Indian batswoman Yastika Bhatia has etched her name into the history books with a magnificent maiden Test century. In the process, she also became the first woman ever to score a Test century at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground during the ongoing one-off Test against England.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter reached the three-figure mark on Day 3 with a composed innings as she took a single off English bowler Issy Wong before absorbing the applause surrounding her. She removed her helmet, raised her bat to acknowledge the crowd and her venue. Bhatia's memorable innings came to an end on 113 from 158 deliveries, featuring 14 fours, after Sophie Ecclestone forced a miscued lofted shot that Mady Villiers comfortably pouched at point. The Lord's crowd acknowledged her remarkable knock with a standing ovation.
Interestingly, Bhatia's swashbuckling century was not only her maiden Test century but also the highest score scored by an Indian woman in the third or fourth innings of a Test match.

Bhatia's landmark century put India firmly in command of the one-off Test, helping the visitors build a lead of over 400 runs. Earlier, Smriti Mandhana's fluent 70 had laid the foundation after India dismissed England for just 170 in the first innings. With a first-innings advantage of 115, India extended their dominance and moved within touching distance of a historic maiden Women's Test victory at Lord's.
