New Delhi, May 6: The Indian Golf Union (IGU) has announced a three-member squad for the prestigious Queen Sirikit Cup, set to be held from May 12 to 15 at the Sentul Highlands Golf Club in Bogor, Indonesia. Leading the Indian challenge will be 2025 Ladies Order of Merit winner Guntas Kaur Sandhu.
Guntas, one of the most consistent performers on the domestic circuit, has enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season, registering six wins and 17 top-10 finishes from 20 starts. She recently claimed titles in both the Ladies and Combined A&B categories at the IGU West Bengal Ladies & Junior Girls Championship. Joining her in the Indian team are Haryana's Ceerat Kang and Delhi's Keya Badugu, while Vandana Aggarwal will accompany the squad as team manager.
Organised by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation in association with The R&A, the Queen Sirikit Cup will feature 15 countries, including defending champions South Korea. The tournament, played over 54 holes, will see teams of three golfers compete, with the best two scores counted each day.
Expressing her excitement, Guntas said, representing India at such a prestigious event is a huge honour and an important step in her career. Ceerat Kang highlighted the opportunity to compete in diverse conditions, while Keya Badugu described it as a special moment to once again represent the country on an international stage.
First held in 1979, the Queen Sirikit Cup has been a key platform for emerging talent in women's amateur golf. India enjoyed a landmark moment in 2023 when Avani Prashanth clinched the individual title, ending a 43-year wait and inspiring a new generation of golfers.
The upcoming edition promises another significant opportunity for India's young stars to showcase their talent on the international stage.
