India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has a huge task of leading India in the T20 World Cup, but an outside nuisance has been an Achilles heel in recent times.
Social media influencer Khushi Mukherjee has
intensified her ongoing spat with Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav amid reports of a Rs 100 crore defamation suit filed by his fan Faizan Ansari.
The controversy stems from her recent claim that the cricketer messaged her frequently in the past, though she insists no romantic involvement occurred. Mukherjee, known from reality shows like Splitsvilla, has countered aggressively while denying receipt of any legal notice.
Mukherjee warned paparazzi that "if Suryakumar Yadav loses the defamation case, I will file a Rs 500 crore case" against him, while acknowledging their past chats were friendly and routine.
She dismissed concerns, stating "There is nothing wrong in chatting" and emphasised that she interacts with many, including cricketers, without impropriety.
The actress described herself as "very soft spoken" and argued her words lacked defamatory intent, saying "My words came out, but there was no defamation. "
In Hindi, she clarified to Instant Bollywood: "Mere moonh se baat nikal gayi ki haan, baat hoti thi, shayad nahi nikalna chahiye tha.. Par usmein defamation wali koi baat nahi thi. (The word may have slipped out of my mouth. We used to talk, but probably I shouldn't have revealed that. But there was no such motive, such as defamation, in it). "
Mukherjee lashed out at "attention-seeking influencers," remarking without naming Ansari, accusing him of 'barking'.
"For the cheap influencers, they came in to engage themselves out of nowhere and started barking. So let them bark, that's all I can say," she added.
The row erupted after her initial viral interview comment and has drawn backlash given Yadav's marriage to Devisha Shetty since 2016. No official response has emerged from Yadav, but things may get further south in the coming days.
