Indian duo Manush Shah and Diya Chitale clinched the Mixed Doubles title at the WTT Contender Muscat 2026, capping a remarkable tournament run at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Oman.
The pair's victory marked a significant achievement for Indian table tennis, coming after a gripping path through the draw in the USD 100,000 event.
Shah and Chitale showed resilience in earlier rounds, including a five-set quarterfinal battle that propelled them forward. Their semifinal against France's Thibault Poret and Lutza was a thriller, where they trailed 0-2 after losing sets 10-12 and 8-11 before storming back with three straight 11-8 wins to reach the championship match. They faced Huang Zheng and Shi Xinyao in the final on January 23, delivering under
pressure to secure the crown.

In the title clash, the Indians overcame their Chinese opponents, Huang Youzheng and Shi Xunyao, in a high-stakes encounter, showcasing sharp reflexes, tactical switches, and an unyielding fightback spirit that defined their campaign. it was a see-saw battle in the final, with the teams winning the first four sets alternatively. Astonishingly, the first four sets ended in a similar scoreline of 11-5, as the first and third set were won by the Indian pair, while tne 2nd and 4th going to the Chinese team. The final set was stretched, but Manush and Diya clinched the victory with a 13-11 win.
Chitale's steady play complemented Shah's aggressive smashes, turning defense into decisive attacks. This win highlighted India's growing doubles prowess amid a field featuring top global pairs.
Shah also competed in Men's Doubles semifinals alongside Manav Thakkar, and Ayhika Mukherjee/Ywini Chopra advancing in Women's Doubles semifinals. Incidentally, both the semifinals resulted in defeats.
