Watford confirm Edward Still as the new head coach, moving quickly after Javi Gracia left the role earlier this month. The appointment gives Watford a fresh direction during a demanding Championship season, with Still arriving while the team remains close to the promotion picture.
The 35-year-old signs a two-and-a-half-year agreement at Vicarage Road, underlining the club’s commitment to a longer-term project. Watford currently sit 11th in the Championship table, three points outside the play-off positions, and Still’s first competitive game comes against Preston North End on Saturday.
Watford continue a pattern of frequent coaching changes this season. Still becomes the third head coach of the campaign, following Paulo Pezzolano’s 10-game stint
at the start and Gracia’s brief second spell. It is also the third occasion since the 2021-2022 season that Watford have used three head coaches in a single league campaign.
Before arriving in England, Still built experience in Belgian football. Most recently, Still worked at Anderlecht as assistant coach and later as interim head coach. Previous roles included positions with Charleroi, KAS Eupen and KV Kortrijk, giving Still a broad knowledge of European club environments and different tactical approaches.

| Anderlecht | Assistant coach / Interim head coach |
| Charleroi | Coaching staff |
| KAS Eupen | Coaching staff |
| KV Kortrijk | Coaching staff |
Still is the older brother of former Southampton manager Will Still, adding further interest to the appointment. Speaking after the announcement, Still outlined personal feelings about joining Watford, stating: "I'm so thrilled and proud to be here. This is a club which has a big place in English football and a fantastic history," said Still.

Still also described how Watford are likely to play under the new structure. "All of the focus will be on winning games as quickly as possible and getting the best out of the players. Fans can expect our team to be aggressive, really compact defensively and attack with pace. " These comments suggest a direct, organised style.
The immediate challenge for Still is to end a poor league run, with Watford seeking a first Championship victory since New Year’s Day. With promotion hopes still alive and a demanding schedule ahead, Watford supporters and neutral observers across regions, including the Middle East, will watch how quickly Still can influence results and stabilise the head coach position.
