Bayern Munich delivered an 8-1 win over Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena, moving 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Michael Olise struck twice and supplied one assist, while Harry Kane reached
20 league goals for the season in a one-sided match that kept Bayern’s title defence firmly on track.
The scoring began after five minutes when Kilian Fischer diverted Luis Diaz’s low cross into Fischer’s own net. Wolfsburg briefly responded, as the in-form Dzenan Pejcinovic drilled an equaliser in the 13th minute. Bayern then restored control on the half-hour, when a deep delivery from Olise was headed in at the back post by Diaz.
Olise increased the lead five minutes after the restart with a precise curling finish. Soon after, another Olise cross caused more trouble, as Moritz Jenz turned the ball past Kamil Grabara for a second own goal. Bayern’s pressure did not ease, with Wolfsburg unable to contain the variety and speed of the host attacks throughout the second half.
Raphael Guerreiro added the sixth Bayern goal in the 68th minute, side-footing in after Kane unselfishly squared the ball. Within a minute, Kane then struck a bending shot that went in off the crossbar for Bayern’s seventh. Olise fired in Bayern’s eighth on 76 minutes, before Leon Goretzka poked home from a tight angle two minutes from time.
Those goals meant Bayern exceeded their expected goals figure of 3.65, underlining the clinical nature of the display. The match also extended a long scoring streak, as Bayern registered multiple goals in a Bundesliga fixture for the 24th consecutive top-flight outing. Coach Vincent Kompany marked a 50th Bundesliga game in charge with a very one-sided victory.
Olise’s influence stretched beyond the two finishes, as the assist for Diaz took Olise to 24 assists in Olise’s first 50 Bundesliga appearances. That tally is the highest recorded by any player across their first 50 league matches since detailed records began in 2004-05, highlighting a consistent creative output in the final third for Bayern.
