Jaipur, Nov 26: The Jaipur Polo Team kicked off their Kota Cup campaign in spectacular fashion, outplaying the Leopards 13-5 in the opening match of the tournament. Displaying exceptional teamwork, sharp strategy, and clinical finishing, Jaipur controlled the momentum from the very first chukker and never allowed their opponents a way back into the contest.
The star performers of the match were Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur and Lance Watson, who combined for 11 of the team's 13 goals.
Watson led the scoring with seven goals, while Padmanabh Singh added four, both showcasing their class with well-timed strikes and relentless pressure in the attacking third. Pranav Kapur also played a vital role, contributing two goals and linking play effectively
throughout the match.
Jaipur take early control
Jaipur began the match with high intensity, notching early goals through Kapur, Watson, and Padmanabh Singh. Their seamless coordination and quick ball movement kept Leopards on the back foot, forcing defensive errors and establishing a comfortable lead at the end of the opening chukker.
The second chukker saw Jaipur extend their dominance, with Watson continuing his scoring run and the Leopards struggling to find any meaningful openings. Leopards managed only one conversion, allowing Jaipur to build a 6-3 lead at halftime.
Leopards' comeback hopes dashed
Leopards showed resilience in the third chukker, scoring through Th Bhawani Singh Kalvi in an attempt to claw their way back. But Jaipur's midfield and defence tightened their structure, cutting down space and regaining possession quickly. Their disciplined play ensured Leopards had little room to mount a sustained challenge.
Jaipur sealed the contest in the final chukker with a fresh wave of goals from Padmanabh Singh and Watson, closing the match confidently to secure a resounding 13-5 victory.
