Brittney Sykes again led the offence as the Toronto Tempo defeated the Phoenix Mercury 98-90 on Tuesday. Sykes scored 31 points. Marina Mabrey added 30 points. The result moved Toronto to 3-2 and left Phoenix at 2-3.
The matchup stayed close, producing 24 lead changes and 13 ties. Mabrey created separation when a sixth 3-pointer with 1:25 left pushed Toronto ahead 96-90. Tempo finished with a season-high 15 threes, while Phoenix went 4-of-22, 18.2 per cent.

On Sunday, two days earlier, Sykes scored a career-best 38 points in a 106-96 win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Across five games, the nine-year veteran is averaging 25.6 points, up from 14.1 last season with the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics.
Phoenix stayed competitive despite outside
struggles, led by Kahleah Copper's 18 points. Alyssa Thomas supplied 17 points, eight assists and three steals. Toronto later highlighted the backcourt online, sharing the post below as Sykes and Mabrey continued to shape the Tempo's identity.
