Japanese striking phenom and 10-time Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka opens up about his quest to claim the inaugural ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title when he faces undefeated Thai veteran Numsurin
Chor Ketwina at ONE 173 on Sunday (November 16).
The Japanese star entered ONE Championship this past March with a remarkable 39-bout winning streak and instantly showcased his elite skills by knocking out Rak Erawan with a devastating left cross in his promotional debut.
Nadaka claimed two more victories on ONE Friday Fights to earn his shot at the inaugural atomweight belt. Now he faces the toughest challenge of his career against Numsurin, who has defeated all six opponents in ONE Championship.
Nadaka has studied his opponent extensively and recognises the high-level Muay Thai fundamentals that have carried Numsurin through his undefeated ONE run. However, the Japanese champion sees additional dimensions to the Thai veteran's game that set him apart.
"Numsurin obviously boasts high-level mastery of Muay Thai fundamentals, which is why he keeps winning. But beyond that, I think he possesses boxing techniques that other Thai fighters don't have," Nadaka said.
"He has a boxing background, and one thing that stands out is how compact his punches are. But the biggest thing I'm wary of is that he's a fighter who can be measured and cerebral to control the fight. "
For Nadaka, competing at ONE 173 in Tokyo provides the ideal stage to showcase the skills he has cultivated throughout his incredible career. The opportunity to become the inaugural atomweight Muay Thai ruler represents a massive career achievement.
"I feel it's the perfect stage for me to prove the skills I've cultivated so far. As for my next challenge, winning the ONE belt would be a huge asset for me personally. So, I'm approaching this fight determined to give everything I've got," Nadaka said.
ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri features five highly anticipated ONE World Title bouts along with several high-octane non-title clashes. Fans in Indian can catch all the action live on pay-per-view at live.onefc.com.
