Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer secured a late equaliser, allowing Hamburg to draw 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund at Volksparkstadion. Carney Chukwuemeka's goal seemed to have clinched the win for Dortmund in Saturday's Bundesliga match, but Hamburg's late surge denied them victory. This result ended Hamburg's three-game losing streak and prevented Dortmund from climbing to second place.
Yussuf Poulsen tested Gregor Kobel early on with a low shot, which was easily saved. Despite dominating possession, Dortmund struggled to create clear chances. Emre Can and Serhou Guirassy both missed opportunities by shooting over the bar. Nicolas Capaldo came close when his header hit the crossbar just before halftime.
Dortmund has been defensively strong this season,
achieving six clean sheets so far. However, they failed to maintain another shutout against Hamburg. Niko Kovac might be more concerned about their attacking inefficiency, as only one of their 17 shots was on target, though it resulted in a goal.
Chukwuemeka broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a well-taken volley into the bottom-right corner. As Hamburg pressed for an equaliser, Robert Glatzel forced Kobel into a smart save. In the 97th minute, Konigsdorffer rose highest to head home and secure a point for Hamburg.

Despite having a higher expected goals (xG) of 1.06 compared to HSV's 0.5 xG, Dortmund managed only one shot on target from their 17 attempts. HSV had three shots on target and made 14 touches in Dortmund's box, while Dortmund had 27 touches in HSV's area.
This draw highlighted Dortmund's need to improve their finishing if they aim to challenge for higher positions in the league standings.
