Antoine Semenyo continued a strong start at Manchester City with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 Premier League win over Fulham, helping reduce Arsenal’s lead at the top to three points. The result followed City’s 2-1 comeback victory over Liverpool, tightening an already tense title race.
Semenyo opened the scoring on 24 minutes, reacting first when Matheus Nunes’ looping cross glanced off Sander Berge inside the box. Six minutes later, Semenyo slipped a precise pass through for Nico O’Reilly to score. Erling Haaland added a third on 39 minutes, ending an eight-game open-play league drought, as City comfortably controlled the second half.
The win left City three points behind Arsenal ahead of the leaders’ trip to Brentford on Thursday, a fixture
Semenyo plans to follow closely. Semenyo told TNT Sports: "It's new to me. I'm enjoying it. But obviously it comes with a lot of pressure and demands," before adding: "We have the team to do it. We just need to keep going. " Semenyo also said: "I'm just going to sit tight and watch the [Arsenal] game, and hopefully it goes our way, so let's see. "
Since arriving from Bournemouth, Semenyo has produced seven goal contributions in all competitions for City, with five goals and two assists. Within that period, only Viktor Gyokeres and Cole Palmer, with eight each, have more among Premier League players. Semenyo has also delivered repeatedly against Fulham, matching many elite attacking numbers across recent domestic campaigns.
Asked about the secret behind such early influence, Semenyo replied: "There are no secrets! It's just being part of a great team, a great environment, the coach has been great, and they've made it easy for me to settle in. It's all a fairytale right now. " That fairytale includes strong chemistry with City’s attacking unit and quick understanding of tactical demands.
Premier League data highlights Semenyo’s effectiveness against specific opponents. Since the start of last season, City team-mate Haaland, with eight goal involvements against West Ham, is the only player with more against one club than Semenyo versus Fulham. Semenyo has seven contributions against Fulham, made up of four goals and three assists, underlining a consistent individual threat.
The forward stressed how important these back-to-back league wins felt within the dressing room. Semenyo said: "It was very important [to win]. That was the message from when the game was done against Liverpool. We were just backing up what we did on the weekend. It was a tough graft, and we got the three points. Today we did the same thing. I'm happy. " Those results keep City close to Arsenal and maintain momentum heading into a decisive phase of the Premier League campaign.
