Blackburn Rovers climbed the Championship standings with a 2-1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale. Lewis Miller opened the scoring for Blackburn, but Alfie Devine equalised before halftime. Preston started strong, with Lewis Dobbin and Liam Lindsay nearly scoring early on. Michael Smith and Odeluga Offiah also had chances blocked in quick succession. Andrew Hughes tested Blackburn's goalkeeper Aynsley Pears, while Offiah missed another opportunity in the box. The first half ended dramatically with Miller scoring from Ryan Hedges' pass in the 45th minute, only for Devine to level just 80 seconds later.
The decisive moment came in the
second half when Gudjohnsen headed past Daniel Iversen from close range. He connected with Ryoya Morishita's precise free-kick after losing his marker. This goal marked Gudjohnsen's fourth in seven Championship goals for Blackburn this season.

Despite their loss, Preston created more chances in the first half but failed to capitalise on them. They generated an expected goals (xG) of 1.7 from 15 shots compared to Blackburn's xG of 1.23 from 12 attempts. This result marks Blackburn's first three-match winning streak since November-December 2024 under John Eustace.
Ryan Hedges was instrumental for Blackburn, assisting Miller's goal and making significant contributions throughout the match. He had the most touches (86), completed the most passes in the final third (29), regained possession ten times, and created two chances.
This victory continues Blackburn's impressive form on the road, showcasing their ability to secure crucial points away from home. Their recent performances have been pivotal in their rise up the Championship table.
