The Phoenix Suns secured their fifth consecutive NBA victory by defeating the Indiana Pacers 133-98. Despite a challenging performance, Jordan Ott expressed satisfaction with the team's resilience. Devin Booker was instrumental, scoring 33 points, including a crucial 10-point streak in the third quarter. Dillon Brooks contributed significantly with 32 points. The Suns initially led by 20 points but faced a brief comeback attempt by the Pacers before sealing their win with a 16-point run.
Phoenix's bench played a pivotal role, with Oso Ighodaro adding 17 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Ott praised the team's adaptability against Indiana's varied lineups. "They [Indiana] went small there in the first half, just a bunch of different lineups,"
he noted. Ott emphasized the unpredictability of NBA games and the need for teams to find new ways to succeed.
Indiana's struggles continued as they fell to a 1-11 record this season. Last year's Eastern Conference champions have been plagued by injuries. Andrew Nembhard scored 21 points while Pascal Siakam added 19. However, Aaron Nesmith's knee injury during the game was a significant setback for the team.
Ott acknowledged that some players thrive under challenging conditions. "This time, it was a little muddy, a little murky, little dirty, and we survived," he said. He highlighted the team's grit and toughness in overcoming obstacles during the second quarter.
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle remains hopeful about Nesmith's condition despite his injury. "Hoping that Aaron's situation is not very serious," Carlisle stated. He believes they may have avoided a severe injury but anticipates Nesmith will miss some time.
