The BCCI unveiled India's 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup on December 20 in Mumbai, with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav announcing the team at headquarters.
The tournament, hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7, presents a major test as the defending champions from 2024 seek to retain their title, with the same squad also named for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Suryakumar Yadav captains the side, backed by vice-captain Axar Patel, while Varun Chakravarthy makes a World Cup return since 2021 alongside Kuldeep Yadav in the spin department, and Jasprit Bumrah leads the pace attack with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan serve as the wicketkeeper-batters,
with Samson a prime candidate for the playing XI.

What will be India's Strongest Playing 11?
In terms of the opponents and conditions, team India can go with a couple of different combinations in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Team India Combination 1
India can go with their herd of spinners in some matches. Kuldeep, Varun and Axar may all be included in this side, as playing either Sanju or Kishan at the top gives India the proper balance and opportunity to bolster their bowling arsenal. In this side, Bumrah can be the solitary frontline pacer with Hardik Pandya providing crucial overs.

Team India Combination 2
When the condition is more pace friendly and the requirement is such, India can go with 2 frontline pacers in Jasprit Bumrah and Ashdeep Singh. Harshit Rana can also be in the mix, while the likes of Ishant Kishan will be pushing either openers for a spot as well.
