Sheffield United, currently struggling in the Championship, have announced the acquisition of Patrick Bamford, a former Leeds United striker. Bamford's first opportunity to make an impact could come on November 23 against Sheffield Wednesday. This derby match is significant as Wednesday sits at the bottom of the table due to a 12-point deduction. The Blades are eager for a win to improve their standings.
The move to Sheffield United is notable given Bamford's past conflicts with Chris Wilder, who returned as head coach in September for his third stint. In 2019, Wilder referred to Bamford as a "muppet. " Earlier this year, Bamford apologised after video footage showed him leading chants against Wilder.
