Mohun Bagan Super Giant have made a major change in their coaching setup in the ongoing season. Spaniard Sergio Lobera RodrÍguez has officially replaced Jose Molina as the new head coach of the Green and Maroon brigade for the remainder of the season.
The club finalized the deal with Lobera on Wednesday, and he is set to begin training with the team-including key players like Jamie Maclaren, Jason Cummings, and Vishal Kaith-from November 30.
Lobera is no stranger to Indian football; he knows the landscape inside out. His impressive resume includes both an ISL League Winners Shield and championship titles, along with valuable experience coaching at FC Barcelona's youth setup. Recognizing his track record of success and attacking philosophy, the Mohun
Bagan Super Giant management entrusted him with leading the side for the rest of the campaign.
After signing the contract, Lobera shared his excitement with the MBSG media team. "It's a huge honor to take charge of Mohun Bagan Super Giant. This club carries an incredible history, deep emotion, and immense ambition. I'm committed to building a team that plays with courage, identity, and a winning spirit. We'll work together to make this chapter a memorable one. "
"This squad is full of talent and qualities that can dominate Indian football. I'm here to elevate that potential to new heights. Mohun Bagan deserves to be at the top, and we'll work every single day to turn that dream into reality," he added.
After an underwhelming outing in the AIFF Super Cup, the Mariners will be hoping to bounce back in the ISL season, which remains ambiguous till date.
