The Minnesota Lynx moved clear at the top of the WNBA standings after a 79-58 road win against the Chicago Sky, extending a perfect away record to 4-0. Nia Coffey led the charge with 20 points as Chicago’s slide continued with a fourth straight defeat.
The result lifted Minnesota to 6-2 in the early-season WNBA standings, days after the team’s 2024 WNBA Finals appearance underlined elite status. Chicago dropped to 3-5 and remained winless at home at 0-4 after another inefficient shooting night.
Coffey delivered one of the most efficient perimeter displays of the WNBA results slate, hitting 6 of 9 from three-point range and outscoring Chicago’s entire team from beyond the arc. Coffey also collected eight rebounds, while Olivia Miles added 17 points,
six rebounds and six assists in Minnesota’s fourth straight victory.
Natasha Howard supplied further balance for the Lynx with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals, helping contain Chicago’s half-court offence. The Sky shot 20 of 70 overall, just 28.6 per cent, and went 5 of 30 from deep, a 16.7 per cent return that stalled any comeback hopes.
Kamilla Cardosa still posted a strong double-double for Chicago with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Skylar Diggins also scored 12. Yet Minnesota’s defensive control, combined with superior three-point shooting, ensured the Lynx tightened their grip on first place in the WNBA standings and stayed unbeaten away from home.

Angel Reese produced 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Dream in a highly active performance at both ends. Rhyne Howard recorded 14 points, six steals and four assists, Naz Hillmon also scored 14 with seven rebounds, five steals and four assists, while Allisha Gray added 13 points and three steals.
The Dream’s defence shaped this part of the WNBA results list, finishing with 16 steals compared with only four for Portland. Reserve Sarah Ashlee Barker led the Fire with 14 points, but Atlanta’s pressure in the passing lanes and fourth-quarter scoring burst proved decisive on the road.

Betnijah Laney-Hamilton came off the bench and produced 13 points in 15 minutes, adding three rebounds, two assists, two steals and two three-pointers in a compact, efficient display.
