Manchester City have confirmed the arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in a reported 65m transfer. The Ghana international winger signs a five-and-a-half-year deal at the Etihad Stadium. Semenyo could appear first in the FA Cup third-round match against Exeter City on Saturday, depending on Manchester City’s selection decisions.
The 2025-26 Premier League season has been highly productive for Semenyo with Bournemouth. Semenyo has scored 10 goals and produced three assists in 20 league appearances. Only Erling Haaland, with 20 goals, and Igor Thiago, with 16 goals, have scored more. Haaland has 24 direct goal involvements, Thiago 17, while Semenyo has also attempted 49 shots, the sixth-highest total.
The statistics underline why Manchester
City moved for Semenyo during this campaign. Semenyo’s 10 league goals place the winger among the season’s main attacking threats. The 49 shots show regular involvement in Bournemouth’s attacking play. These numbers now feed into a Manchester City side still competing in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
There are several possible first appearances for Semenyo in different competitions. Beyond the FA Cup tie against Exeter City, a Premier League debut could arrive in the Manchester derby on 17 January. Semenyo is also available for the EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle United next week. A first Champions League appearance is expected away to Bodo/Glimt.
Manchester City have handed Semenyo the number 42 shirt following the move from Bournemouth. "I am so proud to have joined Manchester City," said City’s new number 42. Manchester City view the signing as extra attacking depth for the second half of the season, with major fixtures ahead across four fronts.

Semenyo described how the move fits with long-term ambitions at club level and personally. "I have watched City over the last decade under Pep Guardiola, and they have been the dominant team in the Premier League as well as achieving amazing things in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. Its a real privilege to be here. My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that. And City are in a great positionstill involved in four competitions. I really feel I can help them have a strong second half of the season. The Etihad is my new home. I cant wait to play in front of the fans here and I hope to show everyone what I can do. "
The arrival of Semenyo adds another attacking option for Manchester City as the club target trophies on several fronts. The winger’s current form, along with experience in the Premier League, suggests an immediate impact is possible. Manchester City will decide how quickly to integrate Semenyo as key matches approach this January.
