The 21-year-old left-arm spinner dethroned England's Linsey Smith to become the world's top-ranked T20I bowler, capping a remarkable rise that has seen her emerge as one of the standout performers of the ongoing tournament.
Charani's ascent comes on the back of a stunning start to the World Cup, where she currently leads the wicket-taking charts with 10 wickets from just three matches.
World Cup Heroics Propel Charani to the Top
Charani has been one of India's brightest performers during the tournament, consistently troubling batters with her accuracy, flight
and ability to extract turn.
Her standout performance came against the Netherlands in Leeds, where she registered figures of 4/19 to help India secure a dominant victory. The left-armer followed that up with another impressive display against South Africa in Manchester, claiming three wickets despite India's defeat.

Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana and Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast also made significant gains following impressive performances at the World Cup.

Shafali Verma moved up one place to sixth in the ICC Women's T20I Batting Rankings, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur climbed one spot to break into the top 10.
Australia opener Georgia Voll retained her position as the world's No.1 T20I batter despite a modest return of 62 runs from three innings during the World Cup.
Beth Mooney remains her closest challenger, while New Zealand's Sophie Devine, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Ireland's Orla Prendergast were among the other players to make gains.
Hayley Matthews Retains All-Round Crown
There was no change at the top of the ICC Women's T20I All-Rounder Rankings, with Hayley Matthews continuing to hold the No.1 position ahead of New Zealand star Melie Kerr.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu moved up to third, while Prendergast and Fatima Sana also climbed within the top 10.
South Africa's Marizanne Kapp was another notable mover after her Player of the Match performance against India, rising five places to ninth overall.
