Thrissur Titans are heading into the third season of the Kerala Cricket League with their eyes firmly set on a first-ever championship. After reaching the semi-finals in each of the first two editions, the Titans are determined to go one step further this time and have assembled one of the most promising young squads in the competition.
The Titans' batting strength revolves around Ahammed Imran and Sean Roger. Imran was one of the leading run-scorers in the previous season, finishing second on the overall list with 437 runs, including a century and three half-centuries.
Known for his aggressive approach, Imran has the ability to put opposition bowling attacks under pressure from the opening over. Sean Roger was another youngster who impressed
for Thrissur last season and will once again be an important part of their batting plans.
The Titans have added further youth and potential to their squad. India Under-19 batter Manav Krishna is among the biggest names in the group. He scored a century for India U-19 against Sri Lanka and accumulated 590 runs, including two centuries, in the most recent Cooch Behar Trophy.
Manav's former state Under-19 teammates K.R. Rohit, Amay Manoj and Mohammed Inan are also part of the squad. Rohit, who made his KCL debut for Thrissur last season, is the youngest player in the league and could open the innings alongside Imran this year.
Depth in the Middle Order
The middle order features several players capable of accelerating the scoring rate. A.K. Arjun, Sanjeev Satheesan and Nikhil Thottathil provide the Titans with additional batting options and the ability to change the tempo of an innings.
Another major advantage for Thrissur is the number of quality all-rounders in their squad. Experienced campaigner M.S. Akhil is the standout name in this department. Akhil, who was the most expensive player in the inaugural KCL season, was acquired by the Titans for ₹3.80 lakh this time.
S.S. Sharon, Prasoon Prasad and Abdul Ramees are among the other all-round options available to the team, giving the Titans flexibility in team selection.
Pace and Spin Options
Thrissur's bowling attack combines variety with experience. The pace department includes Aditya Vinod, Anand Joseph, Sharath Chandra Prasad and Asif Salam, giving the team several options with the new ball as well as in the later stages of an innings.
The spin department will be led by young talents Mohammed Inan and Biju Narayanan. Both players can also contribute with the bat when required.
Biju made a significant impact last season with a match-winning late-innings performance against Aries Kollam Sailors in Thrissur's opening game. Mohammed Inan, meanwhile, has built a reputation through impressive performances at the Under-19 level.
Experienced Coaching Team
S. Sunilkumar will serve as the head coach, with Kevin Oscar and Shahid C.P. joining him as assistant coaches. Manikandan will oversee fielding, while Mohammed Afsal has been appointed logistics manager.
The support staff also includes physiotherapist Arun Roy, trainer Vaishakh and media manager Shaji.
The team is owned by Sajjad Syed, Aqeel Faheem and Kamil Faheem.
