Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirms that every member of the Spain World Cup squad is fit and cleared to play the opening group match. De la Fuente states that all players, including those recovering, will be available when Spain face Cape Verde on June 15 as European champions begin their title defence.
Spain arrive at the tournament in strong form, with De la Fuente stressing that the group is calm and prepared. La Roja are unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions, with seven wins and three draws, and now look to extend that run on the global stage.
After the final warm-up fixture, De la Fuente explains that medical concerns are minimal and the workload has been controlled. He confirms that Rodri and Mikel Merino have come
through recent tests well as they build sharpness. Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal and Victor Munoz are also expected to feature after focused training work.
The last friendly before the Spain World Cup campaign brings a 3-1 victory over Peru. Mikel Oyarzabal scores the opener, Pedri adds another, and an own goal from Pedro Gallese completes the scoring. The result helps maintain rhythm while allowing De la Fuente to manage minutes for key players returning from issues.
Spain are also enjoying a longer positive sequence in official matches. La Roja are unbeaten in 31 competitive fixtures, with 25 wins and six draws, since a 2-0 defeat against Scotland in March 2023. That run is the longest streak without losing in non-friendlies in the nation’s history.
Spain target a rare double by holding both the Euros and the World Cup at the same time. Only three teams have done this before: West Germany, France and Spain. La Roja previously achieved the same feat between Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, with the 2010 World Cup win in between.
Spain’s group schedule sees Cape Verde first on June 15, followed by meetings with Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. The sequence offers different tactical challenges. It also gives De la Fuente options to rotate if the Spain World Cup squad secure early qualification from the pool.

Reflecting on the build-up, De la Fuente says: "We're satisfied with everything we've done. The players are in good shape; there haven't been any injuries. " The head coach praises the attitude across the Spain World Cup squad and highlights the positive signs shown during the preparation period.
De la Fuente expands on individual cases, adding: "We'll be analysing various situations further in the coming days. I'm very pleased with the positive impression they've made. Rodri is already doing exceptionally well. For various reasons, we only gave him an hour, but he's fine now. And Merino is gradually getting more playing time. I think everyone will be ready, and I want to convey a sense of calm. Everyone is in perfect condition. And everyone will be available for the first match, including Nico, Lamine, and Victor, who have been training intensely in Chattanooga. "
With fitness issues easing, strong recent results and a long unbeaten record in competitive matches, Spain enter the World Cup with stability and clear targets. De la Fuente and the Spain World Cup squad aim to defend the European crown and join the small group of national teams that have held both major titles at once.
