Real Madrid state there has been no contact with Chelsea over Enzo Fernandez, despite recent reports linking a transfer. The club rejects claims of talks with Fernandez or representatives, even though Madrid already moved this summer for several players under returning head coach Jose Mourinho.
The denial follows intense speculation that Fernandez could leave Chelsea during a busy European transfer window. Madrid have already had a bid turned down for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, while president Florentino Perez has spoken about spending heavily after winning re-election.
Madrid stress that Fernandez is not an active target, even though Fernandez had previously hinted at interest in a move to the Spanish club last season. Those comments
led former Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior to drop Fernandez from the team at that time.
The latest statement from Madrid arrives only one day after Fernandez’s agent, Javier Pastore, publicly confirmed the midfielder is exploring options away from Stamford Bridge. Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for what was then a Premier League-record transfer fee.
Fernandez has been a regular starter since arriving in London. The midfielder has played 169 matches in all competitions for Chelsea. During the 2025-26 season, no Premier League player featured in more games, with Fernandez appearing 61 times and registering 16 goals and 10 assists.
The 26 goal contributions from Fernandez in 2025-26 were bettered at Chelsea only by Joao Pedro, who reached 29. Reports in England indicate that if Fernandez attempts to push for a move, Chelsea would demand around 120m, with six years left on the contract.
Last month, Madrid issued an almost identical response when linked with Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, who has impressed for France at the World Cup. The club again insist there has been no approach, either to Chelsea or to Fernandez’s camp, regarding any possible signing.
In view of the information and statements that have appeared in recent days about an alleged interest of Real Madrid C.F. in the player Enzo Fernandez, the club wishes to state that it has not carried out any management, either direct or indirect, aimed at the signing of the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation, Madrid said in a statement.
Real Madrid would like to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernandez, a great footballer whose career and quality are well known, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which he has an excellent institutional relationship.

Real Madrid transfer rumours, Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea
Precisely because of the respect that an entity like Chelsea FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always presided over Real Madrid's performance, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not respond to reality.
Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the absence of any action on the part of the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and that only contributes to generating confusion among fans and unnecessarily harming the entities and people involved.
The statement closes another round of transfer links involving Madrid during a summer already shaped by the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva. For now, despite Fernandez’s uncertain future at Chelsea, Madrid insist there will be no move for the Argentina international.
