New Delhi, Sep 9: RVR Delhi Blue Bulls GC are looking beyond competition in their AM Green IGPL Season 2 campaign, with the franchise placing grassroots development and wider community engagement at the centre of its plans.
The Delhi-based franchise on Wednesday (September 9) unveiled its official playing jersey at Qutab Golf Course, but the launch also highlighted its commitment to building a stronger grassroots golf ecosystem in the capital through a new Junior Programme.
The initiative will provide children in Delhi with access to golf and professional coaching, with the franchise aiming to bring youngsters into a sport that can often remain inaccessible to aspiring players at the grassroots level.
The Blue Bulls will also undertake community
initiatives through Birdies for the Bulls, its social-impact programme, while a season-linked tree plantation drive will be conducted in partnership with Greenpanel.
The franchise's competitive ambitions remain equally strong, with four accomplished golfers set to represent RVR Delhi Blue Bulls GC in Season 2 - Shiv Kapur, Gaurav Ghei, Chiragh Kumar and Aryan Roopa Anand.
The squad features significant experience, with Ghei, a three-time Asian Tour winner, taking on the dual role of mentor and player. Kapur, meanwhile, brings a distinguished international resume that includes an Asian Games gold medal in 2002 and four victories in Asia.
Kapur and Ghei will also be part of the league's Golf Growth Initiative, being undertaken in collaboration with the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the Women's Golf Association of India, PGA India and The Golf Foundation.
Speaking at the jersey launch, RVR Projects Pvt Ltd Director Ganesh Sarnala said the franchise wanted to establish an identity that extended beyond the professional circuit.
"A jersey is where a franchise stops being a plan on paper and becomes a team. "
Sarnala added that RVR had backed a squad capable of competing at the highest level while also seeking to make the franchise and its home event part of Delhi's golfing community.
For Kapur, the team format brings a different dimension to a sport that is traditionally individual.
"Golf is usually an individual sport, but wearing a team jersey changes the game entirely. Now, every swing is for my teammates. "
The former Asian Games champion also underlined the importance of the franchise's grassroots initiative and said the junior programme would help introduce more children in Delhi to golf while providing them with access and coaching they might otherwise not receive.
The franchise's blue-themed playing jersey, featuring the Blue Bulls crest, was unveiled by Sarnala and AM Green IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, with Kapur, Ghei, Kumar and Anand taking the stage in the team's new colours.
Mundy said the development of strong team identities was an important part of the league's evolution.
"The team identity is what makes this league different from anything golf has had before. "
He added that with the second half of Season 2 approaching, teams taking ownership of their colours and home venues would help strengthen the connection between franchises and their supporters.
For Delhi, that home connection will come into focus later this month when Qutab Golf Course hosts the AM Green IGPL Invitational 2026 presented by RVR Delhi Blue Bulls GC from September 29 to October 1.
The Delhi event is one of nine tournaments scheduled in the second half of the AM Green IGPL Season 2 calendar, which spans venues in India and the UAE.
While the Blue Bulls will be looking to make an impact on the course with an experienced quartet, their broader objective is to use the franchise platform to introduce a new generation of Delhi golfers to the sport.
With the jersey now unveiled and their home leg approaching, the Blue Bulls' Season 2 campaign will therefore carry two distinct ambitions - compete at the highest level while creating a pathway for the next generation of golfers in Delhi.
