The Las Vegas Aces are keeping four-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson, who agreed a new contract to stay with the defending champions. ESPN reported the deal is a three-year, $5million supermax agreement, described as the richest contract in league history for any WNBA player.
Signing Wilson continues a busy off-season for the Aces, who already reached new agreements with Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray and Jewell Loyd. With those moves, Las Vegas project to retain 90 per cent of their 2025 scoring output, keeping 75.5 of 83.6 points per game.
Wilson, 29, remains the only four-time MVP in WNBA history and is the central figure in the Aces dynasty. The eight-year veteran has guided Las Vegas to three championships in the last four seasons, cementing the team
as the league's current standard.
Wilson added a third Defensive Player of the Year award last summer, underlining impact at both ends. The forward is also a seven-time All-Star and has made six All-WNBA teams. These honours place Wilson among the most decorated players in the competition's history.
Wilson led the WNBA in scoring for a second straight season, averaging 23.4 points per game. Wilson also topped the league in blocked shots at 2.3 per game, while adding 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals. Each category represented the second-best averages of Wilson's career.
For a second consecutive campaign, Wilson averaged at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. No other WNBA player has ever reached those combined thresholds across a season with a minimum of 15 games played, highlighting Wilson's rare all-round production.
"Aja is truly one of one, who has led this franchise to where it is today,Aces president and general manager Nikki Fargas said in a statement. Not only has she catapulted into the history books and surpassed almost every record in existence, but she does so with the utmost confidence, authenticity and grace. We look forward to continuing to see her thrive in an Aces uniform. Wilson's new deal secures the core around Las Vegas for the near future and stabilises the championship group that dominated recent seasons. The agreement also sets a fresh financial benchmark within the WNBA, underlining Wilson's status and the Aces' ambition to keep contending.
