IPL 2026 Auction: Auqib Nabi to Vivrant Sharma - Jammu and Kashmir Players to Keep an Eye On

The announcement of the IPL 2026 Auction list on Monday has generated widespread excitement in Jammu and Kashmir's cricketing circles, with as many as eight players from the region earning a place in the shortlist

for the auction scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

Among them, fast bowler Auqib Nabi has emerged as the biggest talking point. Riding on a remarkable run in the ongoing domestic season, Auqib has established himself as one of the most impressive uncapped Indian pacers available in the auction. His performances have drawn attention from multiple IPL franchises, raising strong hopes of a long-awaited IPL debut.

Auqib has showcased consistency and maturity with the ball, excelling both with the new ball and during the crucial death overs. His impactful spells across major domestic tournaments, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy, have highlighted his sharp pace, wicket-taking ability and calmness under pressure. The J&K pacer also had a trial with Mumbai Indians earlier.

A senior official from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) acknowledged his rise, stating that Auqib's current form makes this season particularly significant and that his chances of breaking into the IPL appear stronger than ever.

Qamran Iqbal has played a couple of decent knocks for Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy and can be in the radar of a few teams. Abid Mushtaq is a prominent spinner who has showcased his talent, whereas Vivrant Sharma is another top player to keep an eye on.

Adding to the region's growing footprint in the league, three cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir have already been retained by their respective franchises. Abdul Samad continues with Lucknow Super Giants, Umran Malik has been retained by Kolkata Knight Riders, while Yudhvir Charak remains with Rajasthan Royals.
