Harmeet Singh stars with Ball for USA
Chasing 197, the Netherlands collapsed spectacularly, bowled out for 103 in just 15.5 overs. They were reduced to 66/5 early as USA's spinners exploited
turn and grip. Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh was the star, claiming 4/21 in his 4 overs. He dismantled the top and middle order, including key wickets like Max O'Dowd and Bas de Leede, earning Player of the Match honours. Shadley van Schalkwyk supported with 3/21, and Mohammad Mohsin took 2/19.
Harmeet, a former India U19 player, had shifted base to USA for opportunities and has been a key part of the jigsaw since. And the USA star recently came to Mumbai just before the T20 World Cup for the camp, and donated Rs 10 lakh to Rohit Sharma's childhood coach Dinesh Lad.
Why did Harmeet Desai donate Rs 10 lakh Dinesh Lad?
Harmeet Singh, durin his formative years, was under the tutelage of Dinesh Lad. The celebrated Mumbai coach has been pivotal in Rohit Sharma's bloom, while he has also coached the likes of Shardul Thakur. Harmeet came to pay a visit to Lad and donated the money for Dinesh Lad Foundation, which has already started its residential function in Mumbai.
Lad, while speaking with MyKhel recently, said Harmeet's gesture was a pleasant surprise as the USA player didn't forget his roots. Lad, who is currently also the coach of Swami Vivekananda International School in Mumbai, runs his foundation in Borivali.
