Memphis Grizzlies centre Zach Edey is facing a setback with a stress reaction in his left ankle. This injury will keep him out for at least a month. The team announced that Edey will undergo rehabilitation and be reassessed in four weeks. Despite this, he is anticipated to fully recover.
Edey's current injury affects the same ankle he had surgery on in June. That surgery caused him to miss the first 13 games of the season. Since returning on November 15, Edey has participated in all 11 games for Memphis, contributing significantly to the team's performance.
In his recent six games, Edey averaged 16.5 points and 14 rebounds per game. During this period, the Grizzlies achieved a 5-1 record. Overall, Memphis has a 7-4 record when Edey plays, compared
to a 4-9 record without him.
Last season, Edey also missed 12 games due to a sprained left ankle. Despite this setback, he managed to average 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game and earned All-Rookie first team honours.
Since his return this season, Edey has been averaging 13.6 points per game. He leads the team with averages of 11.1 rebounds and 1.91 blocked shots per game. His presence on the court has been crucial for the Grizzlies' success.
