On a busy WNBA Sunday, the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings both earned double-digit wins, despite major absences on opposing sides. Indiana beat the Las Vegas Aces 84-68 without Caitlin Clark, while Dallas controlled the expansion Tempo 89-76. Both results carried playoff weight, with the Fever and Wings strengthening mid-season records against teams battling consistency.
Dallas never trailed against Toronto, turning a narrow interval advantage into a controlled finish. Paige Bueckers guided the Wings with 22 points and seven assists in the 89-76 victory. The Wings led by five at half-time, then stretched the gap to 71-59 after three quarters. That cushion secured Dallas a fourth win in six games and moved the record for the Wings to 13-8.
Indiana’s
win over the defending champion Aces came with both teams missing headline names. Kelsey Mitchell stepped up for the Fever, pouring in 27 points during the 84-68 success. Las Vegas was again without four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, who sat a third straight game because of a leg injury. Caitlin Clark remained sidelined, continuing back rehabilitation.
Aliyah Boston backed Mitchell with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double and added two blocks as Indiana improved to 12-8. The Fever edged ahead 42-41 at half-time, then dominated the third quarter 26-14. Indiana restricted Las Vegas to only 27 points after the break. Jackie Young led the Aces with 15 points, and Las Vegas dropped to 15-6 following the defeat.

Star power still surrounded both matchups through All-Star recognition. Wilson, Clark, Mitchell and Boston were all confirmed this week as starters for the WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago on July 25. Wilson also missed the Aces’ 93-85 defeat to the New York Liberty in the Commissioners Cup championship game on Tuesday, extending a difficult stretch for Las Vegas without the forward.
The Wings relied on balanced support behind Bueckers to stay ahead of the 9-11 Tempo. Top overall draft pick Azzi Fudd hit five three-pointers and finished with 17 points. Jessica Shepard produced 14 points and 15 rebounds, dominating the glass. For Toronto, Marina Mabrey registered 19 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Nyara Sabally added 14 points, seven boards and five assists, though Tempo has now lost six of the last eight games.

Both contests underlined how depth shapes the WNBA season, with Mitchell and Bueckers driving wins while headline teammates recovered. Indiana and Dallas strengthened records, whereas Las Vegas and Toronto faced further questions after recent slips. As the All-Star break in Chicago on July 25 approaches, these results may weigh heavily on playoff positioning.
