The Indian Senior Women's Hockey Team will tour Argentina in April. They will play a four-match series at CeNARD in Buenos Aires from 13 to 17 April. All matches are against the Argentina women's team. India will face strong home opposition in each game.
The matches are set for 13, 14, 16, and 17 April. Pushback is 11:00 AM local time, which is 6:30 PM IST. The tour fits Hockey India's plan before the FIH Hockey World Cup, Belgium and Netherlands 2026, and the Asian Games.
The tour will give India four high-tempo games in five days. The team will also test new plans and player groups. This is seen as key match practice against top-level rivals, on a pitch and in a setting that demands sharp play.
Recent history between India and Argentina
India and Argentina met in the FIH Pro League 2024-25
last June. That match ended 2-2 in normal time. The result was then decided by a shootout. Those close games add interest to this tour, with both teams aware of each other.
The Argentina team is seen as one of the best in the world. Playing them in Buenos Aires should test India in all areas. It will show how the Indian side is shaping up. It will also highlight areas that need work before major events.
Coach Marijne on the squad and aims.
Indian Women's Hockey Team Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne spoke on the plans. He said, "We are travelling to Argentina with a squad of 24 players, and that is a very deliberate choice. This tour is about giving more players the chance to perform at the highest level. "
Marijne added that the tour will show the level of each player. He said, "Argentina is one of the best teams in the world, and that environment will tell us a lot about where each player stands. We want to see who steps up when it matters".
The coach also stressed team values. He said, "To earn a place in this team, you need to show everyone that you are a team player first. Individual quality is important, but if you cannot connect with the group and work for each other, it will be very difficult to make this squad".
The four matches in Buenos Aires are seen as vital steps. They link the buildup to the FIH Hockey World Cup, Belgium, and the Netherlands 2026. They also lead into the Asian Games later this year, where India will aim for strong results.
