Chennai Super Kings player Urvil Patel has showcased his might in the domestic trophy, scoring an unbeaten century for Gujarat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday (November 26).
Gujarat captain
Urvil Patel delivered a stunning performance by smashing an unbeaten 119 runs off just 37 balls against Services at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.
He reached his century in a blazing 31 balls, showcasing his aggressive batting with 12 fours and 10 sixes. Patel's explosive innings guided Gujarat to chase down a target of 183 runs comfortably in 12.3 overs, winning the match by 8 wickets with 45 balls to spare.
Urvil Patel, who also plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and was retained by them for the upcoming season, formed a formidable opening partnership of 174 runs with Aarya Desai, who contributed 60 off 35 balls. Patel's blazing strike rate of over 321 was a key factor in Gujarat's dominant chase. His 31-ball century ranks among the fastest in the tournament's history, further cementing his reputation as one of the most destructive young batters in Indian T20 cricket.
Services had set a competitive total of 183 with Gaurav Kochar scoring a 60-ball fifty. Despite the valiant middle-order contributions, the bowling attack fell short against Patel's powerful hitting. Patel's performance not only led Gujarat to an emphatic win but also strengthened his credentials as a rising star in the domestic circuit with IPL experience and record-breaking centuries in T20s
Urvil Patel was retained by CSK ahead of the auction, and he is expected to play a key part for them in the IPL 2026 season. He was roped in as a replacement last season and played only 3 matches for them, scoring 68 runs at a strike rate of 212.
