A packed WNBA schedule on 28 and 29 June 2026 delivered records, milestones and drama. Cheryl Reeve drew level for most coaching wins, Aja Wilson posted a unique stat line, the Golden State Valkyries kept rolling, and the Washington Mystics survived a four-overtime classic against the Portland Fire.
The Washington Mystics and Portland Fire played only the second quadruple-overtime game in league history. Washington edged Portland 124-123, matching the WNBA record for the longest game. The Mystics improved to 9-9, while the expansion Fire slipped to 8-12 in a contest where five players reached new career scoring highs.
Sonia Citron decided the battle with 21.4 seconds left in the fourth overtime, hitting the go-ahead basket. Citron totalled 32
points, six rebounds and four assists in the win. Michaela Onyenwere added 30 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Kiki Iriafen delivered 27 points, 11 boards, six assists and two steals.
That trio made Washington the first WNBA team ever to have three players score at least 27 points in one game. Portland answered with three 20-point scorers of its own. Carla Leite had 32 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals, Sarah Ashlee Barker scored 25, and Megan Gustafson added 20.
The Mystics had also taken part in the league’s only previous four-overtime contest, a 72-69 win over the Seattle Storm on 3 July 2001. This latest meeting with Portland therefore tied that mark for duration. The Fire, despite the narrow loss, showed depth and resilience against an experienced Washington side.

On 28 June, Cheryl Reeve moved alongside Mike Thibault atop the WNBA regular-season coaching wins list. Minnesota’s 85-77 victory over the Dallas Wings gave Reeve a 379th regular-season success. Reeve already holds the league record for playoff victories, and now shares the overall regular-season mark.
Natasha Howard drove the Lynx to that milestone with a dominant late spell. Howard finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, scoring 10 points in the final five minutes. Minnesota, now 15-4 and leading the league, have won five of the last six games.
Olivia Miles matched Howard’s 21 points and handed out eight assists, providing key playmaking. Kayla McBride added 17 points, connecting on four three-pointers for Minnesota. Dallas, who fell to 11-8 and 0-3 against the Lynx this season, relied on strong performances from Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.
Bueckers led all scorers with 25 points on 10-of-17 field-goal shooting, keeping the Wings close throughout. Fudd produced 21 points, hit four three-pointers and recorded four steals in an active two-way display. Despite that effort, Dallas could not slow Minnesota’s late surge sparked by Howard’s closing run.

WNBA stars Aja Wilson and Valkyries extend winning form
Aja Wilson headlined another major story on 28 June, guiding the Las Vegas Aces past the Chicago Sky 107-99. Wilson became the first WNBA player to record at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in a single game.
Wilson, a four-time league MVP, shot 8-of-14 from the field and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. Jackie Young backed that display with 28 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Chelsea Gray added 18 points, eight assists and six rebounds as Las Vegas improved to 14-5.
Chicago, whose record moved to 6-13, missed the chance to secure a third straight victory. Kamilla Cardoso and Azura Stevens each scored 24 points in the defeat, giving the Sky inside scoring. Skylar Diggins collected six rebounds and five assists, but converted only two of 11 shot attempts.

Cecilia Zandalasini and Janelle Salaun both finished with 10 points each, offering reliable support across the rotation.
Veronica Burton added eight points but stood out through all-round play, posting eight assists and six rebounds. New York relied on Jonquel Jones, who produced 21 points and seven rebounds, and Breanna Stewart, who scored 15. Sabrina Ionescu struggled offensively, limited to nine points on 3-of-10 shooting.
