The stage is set for the IPL 2026 final as defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 2026. While the focus will be on the battle for the trophy, fans have also been eagerly waiting for updates on the tournament's closing ceremony.
BCCI, unlike previous seasons, has remained silent on whether a grand entertainment show will take place before or during the final. The board had also skipped a traditional opening ceremony earlier this year, making the lack of clarity around the closing ceremony even more noticeable. Still, reports from Ahmedabad and videos circulating on social media suggest that spectators could witness live performances, cultural acts,
laser shows and fireworks as the IPL season comes to an end.
Why IPL 2026 Closing Ceremony Feels Different
As of match day, the BCCI has not officially confirmed a closing ceremony for the IPL 2026 final. The board also skipped a traditional opening ceremony earlier this season, signalling a more restrained approach to off-field celebrations.
The move comes less than a year after the tragic stampede during RCB's IPL 2025 victory celebrations in Bengaluru, where 11 people lost their lives and several others were injured. The incident brought crowd management and public safety under scrutiny, and many believe it has influenced the league's decision to scale back large public entertainment events this year.
What Fans Can Still Expect from IPL 2026 Final
Despite the lack of an official announcement, reports and videos from the Narendra Modi Stadium suggest that some entertainment is planned. Dance troupes have been spotted rehearsing on the field, while singer Kailash Kher is reportedly expected to perform, although there has been no official confirmation.
A live violin performance during the innings break, along with a laser show and fireworks display, is also expected. Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police have issued an advisory ahead of the final, stating,
"Under the pretext of the match result, fans of other teams should not be provoked, insulted, or engaged in behaviour that may lead to fights. "
The statement was part of an official advisory released before the match amid concerns over possible celebrations if RCB win the title.
Whether there is a full-fledged closing ceremony or not, all eyes will be on Ahmedabad as IPL 2026 prepares for one final night of cricket, celebration and unforgettable moments.
