Dubai is set to host its inaugural Women's Triathlon World Cup on December 7. This event, organised by the Dubai Sports Council with World Triathlon and the UAE Triathlon Federation, will feature elite
Olympic triathletes. The race will occur on Dubai Islands and is a significant part of the Sheikha Hind Sports Initiative, aligning with the Dubai Sports Plan 2033.
The competition will be broadcast live on Dubai Sports Channel, with additional coverage from the International Olympic Committee's digital platform. Spectators can watch from designated viewing areas along the course. This global exposure positions Dubai as a premier destination for international sports events.
Among the confirmed participants is American Olympic champion Gwen Rosemary Jorgensen. Known for her speed, she has multiple World Cup victories and two world titles. Joining her is Hanna Maksimava, who recently won gold at the 2025 Aquathlon World Championship in Spain and competed in Kazakhstan's Asian Cup.
Cambodia's Margot Garabedian brings her impressive record of eight international titles, including a 2021 Aquathlon World Championship gold. Spain's Noelia Juan also joins, having secured two World Triathlon Cup golds and numerous podium finishes. Valentina Riasova and Alejandra Seghi add depth to this competitive field.
Hessa Al Kous, Chair of the Organizing Committee, stated that launching this event in Dubai reflects the emirate's dedication to advancing sports initiatives. "This strengthens women's sport presence," she said, "enhances our global position, expands sports tourism opportunities, and offers an exceptional experience combining sport and urban spectacle. "
Registration remains open until December 5 for women aged 18 and above from all nationalities via www.wtwcdubai.ae. The championship features swimming, cycling, and running across five categories: Individual Professionals, Individual Sprint for Amateurs (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run), Individual Super Sprint for age groups (400m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run), and Team categories.
