Chennaiyin FC sign Imran Khan ahead of ISL Season

Ahead of the ISL 2025-26 season, Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of Indian winger Imran Khan.

The Marina Machans announced the signing of Imran on Monday as the forward has joined the ISL club after leaving Jamshedpur FC at the end of last season.

Imran, who impressed with the Steel Miners under Khalid Jamil and also got called up for the Blue Tigers under Igor Stimac, has been under the radar of Chennaiyin for some time, and has now been roped in. The crafty winger is known for his pace, skill and work rate, and is expected to join his teammates immediately ahead of the new season.

"I am excited for the season to begin and for football to begin. This is all new for us and poses a strong challenge. I am also thrilled for the new project

and adding a new chapter in my career with the Marina Machans. I have worked with Clifford (Miranda) Sir a few years ago, and so I am looking forward to reuniting with him," Imran said after joining CFC.

MyKhel understands there were other suitors for Imran, as at least three other clubs were keeping tabs on him. The Manipur-born didn't play any part in the AIFF Super Cup to improve his fitness, but is now ready to feature in the ISL as the season is expected to start soon.

"Imran is a good player to have, particularly with his left foot. He had a very good season last year and had a big and decisive influence on his team's run to the semi-finals. Imran's inclusion strengthens our squad. His experience will help us, especially on the wings. He has been around the circuit for some time now and gives us a different dimension while going forward. His ability to operate from half spaces is very effective and will help us attack in multiple dimensions," Chennaiyin FC coach Clifford Miranda said.

ISL to start from February 14

The ISL 2025-26 season is expected to commence from February 14, as per the tentative AIFF schedule. Mohun Bagan SG is set to start the season with Kerala Blasters in Kolkata on the first day of the season.
