AIFF Super Cup 2025 Semi-Final: The stage is set for two blockbuster semi-final clashes in the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26, as East Bengal FC, Punjab FC, FC Goa, and Mumbai City FC prepare to battle for a spot
in the grand finale. Both semi-finals will be played at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Thursday, December 4, with the final scheduled for Sunday, December 7.
The day's first semi-final, kicking off at 4:30 PM IST, will see East Bengal FC lock horns with Punjab FC, who scripted one of the tournament's most dramatic qualifications. The second semi-final, set for 7:30 PM IST, features a heavyweight encounter between hosts FC Goa and Mumbai City FC, two of the most consistent sides in the competition.
Punjab FC sealed their historic maiden semi-final berth after edging Bengaluru FC 5-4 on penalties in a tense Group C decider at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda. After a goalless draw in regulation time, the teams were level on points, goal difference, and goals scored, forcing a shootout. Goalkeeper Muheet Shabir emerged as the hero for Punjab, saving Ryan Williams' crucial penalty, while Nsungusi Effiong, Leon Augustine, Princeton Rebello, Samir Zeljkovic, and Vinit Rai all held their nerve to send the Shers through.
Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC clinched their semi-final spot after a tense 1-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC in Fatorda. A late 88th-minute own goal from Freddy Lallawmawma, following relentless pressure from the Islanders, proved decisive. The match also saw Kerala's Sandeep Singh Soraisham receive a red card just before half-time, leaving the Blasters to fight with ten men for nearly an entire half.
