Liverpool visit Tottenham on Saturday with momentum from a five-match unbeaten run and renewed confidence in defence. Arne Slot’s side sit seventh in the Premier League, four points and four places above Spurs, and have collected three clean sheets in that recent spell, including a 2-0 victory over Brighton at Anfield.
Tottenham enter this Liverpool clash under pressure after a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest ended a three-game unbeaten sequence. That loss at the City Ground increased scrutiny on Thomas Frank, whose position has again been questioned as Spurs attempt to stabilise their Premier League campaign.
Liverpool’s recent results show gradual improvement rather than complete control. They beat Brighton 2-0, with Hugo Ekitike scoring twice,
and also defeated West Ham plus Inter in the Champions League. However, they dropped domestic points against Sunderland and Leeds United, underlining Slot’s view that progress is real but still incomplete.
OPTA’s model gives Liverpool a narrow edge before kick-off. The data rates Tottenham’s chance of victory at 32.3%, the draw at 25.4%, and Liverpool’s win probability at 42.3%. These figures reflect Liverpool’s steady upturn and Spurs’ inconsistent year, particularly at home, where results have often been poor in 2025.
Recent meetings strongly favour Liverpool. Tottenham have won only two of their last 25 Premier League matches against the Reds, with home successes in October 2017 by 4-1 and September 2023 by 2-1. Liverpool took both league clashes last season with heavy scorelines, winning 6-3 and 5-1.
Liverpool’s attack has been a consistent problem for Spurs. The Reds have scored in 25 of their last 26 Premier League games against Tottenham, including the most recent 19 in succession. Only against Arsenal, where Liverpool currently have a run of 20 league matches with a goal, do they hold a longer scoring streak.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Premier League goal records and attacking stats
This rivalry usually delivers goals. Liverpool against Spurs is the highest-scoring fixture in Premier League history, with 206 goals overall. The last three league encounters produced 21 goals, averaging seven per match, and at least three goals have been scored in 14 of their previous 16 Premier League meetings.
Tottenham’s home record across 2025 raises further concern. Spurs have lost 10 home league games this calendar year, matching their worst yearly tallies from 1994 and 2003. They have also been beaten by three or more goals in four Premier League matches in 2025, including the recent 3-0 defeat at Forest.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Premier League key players to watch
Hugo Ekitike is Liverpool’s main form player before this trip. Ekitike has scored four goals across the last two Premier League matches, recording braces against Leeds and Brighton. History suggests he is chasing elite company, as only Luis Suarez has scored multiple goals in three straight Premier League games for Liverpool.
For Tottenham, Richarlison carries a notable record against Liverpool. Richarlison has been involved in seven Premier League goals against Liverpool, with four goals and three assists, his highest total versus any side. All four strikes have come at Anfield, and only Andrey Arshavin has scored more away goals against the Reds.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Premier League managers and schedules
Slot views the Brighton result as a platform rather than a finished product. "The boys put in a performance that is easier, maybe, for the fans to help them, if they see [the players] are fighting and trying everything. They played good football in between as well," Slot said, reflecting on that match.
Slot admitted Liverpool needed some fortune against Brighton after a long demanding spell. "I think it was a combination of things that the fans helped us and the players were at it. As a result of that, we were a bit lucky, if we're honest. We have played many, many, many games in many weeks and months when we had no luck at all, where we sometimes conceded three goals without giving a chance away. This would sound strange, but I mean what I said. We actually conceded quite a lot [of chances against Brighton], but we were lucky that they didn't score. That means five games unbeaten and out of the five games we have three clean sheets, and that's something to build on. "
Frank, meanwhile, stressed the importance of training time before Tottenham’s festive run. "First and foremost, we have, finally, a more or less full week going into Liverpool next time. After that, we have eight days to Crystal Palace," Frank said. That schedule is followed by games with Brentford and Sunderland over the holiday period.
Frank outlined the difficulty of adjusting systems between frequent matches. "That gives a little bit of time to train and try to get on top of some of these things. That's also the challenge. No complaints, just the facts. We try to change things with very little time between games. It's just a little bit trickier. We need to utilise the time in the next two weeks, and then we have five games in a short amount of time. "
Tottenham did beat Brentford 2-0 in their most recent Premier League home fixture, and another victory here would give Spurs back-to-back home league wins for the first time since the run between September and November 2024. However, historic head-to-head data and current form both lean toward a Liverpool win.
