The Narendra Modi stadium, built in 1983 and expanded in 2020 as the world's largest cricket stadium, will host at least seven matches during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, starting from Saturday (March 28).
Earlier known as Motera Stadium, the venue was renamed by the Gujarat Cricket Association in the name of the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who was also the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association (2009 - 2014).
Over the years, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has served as the home venue to Gujarat state teams, the Indian cricket team, and in IPL as home to Rajasthan Royals in seasons 2010, 2014, and 2015, but has been the sole home to the local team, the Gujarat Titans, since 2022.
