The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from February to March 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
This tournament marks the 10th edition of the event and features an expanded lineup
of 20 teams, the highest number to date in a T20 World Cup.
T20 World Cup 2026 Teams and Groups
The teams will be divided into four groups of five, with each team playing four matches in the group stage. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage, which consists of two groups of four teams each. The best two teams from each Super Eight group will move on to the knockout rounds, culminating in the semi-finals and a final to decide the world champions.
Group A: India, Pakistan, Netherlands, Namibia, USA
Group B: Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman
Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy
Group D: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE, Canada
T20 World Cup 2026 Venues
The tournament will be spread across multiple venues in both India and Sri Lanka, with major stadiums such as the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and venues in Colombo hosting key matches. The final, as well as the opening match, is slated to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket stadium globally. A notable aspect of this tournament is that the India vs Pakistan group stage match will take place in Sri Lanka rather than India, reflecting ongoing political considerations and ensuring the fixture's continuation in a neutral venue.
