Tottenham Hotspur have secured Sweden international Hanna Wijk on a long-term deal from Hacken, strengthening their Women’s Super League squad for the 2025-26 season. The transfer represents Spurs' second
incoming move of the January window and remains dependent on international clearance and the granting of a work permit.
Wijk, aged 22, arrives at a Tottenham side currently fifth in the Women’s Super League table, having collected 20 points from 11 matches. Martin Ho’s team are unbeaten in three league fixtures and resume domestic duty against Leicester City on January 11, aiming to maintain recent momentum.
The defender shared a strong emotional reaction to the move after finalising the switch from Sweden. "It feels great to be here. I got goosebumps when I put on the shirt," Wijk said. "It has always been my dream to move abroad from Sweden and play in this league. "

Wijk explains that the English game had already become a regular focus while playing in Sweden. "I love the league and I watched it a lot from home, so I'm really looking forward to playing here in England, and also for Spurs. " The move gives Wijk a first club experience outside Sweden.
The Sweden international built a solid record with Hacken after joining in 2020, making 124 appearances in all competitions. Wijk played 25 league games in the Damallsvenskan last season, contributing to Hacken's title success, which was only the second league championship in the club’s history.
Tottenham head coach Martin Ho highlights strong interest from other clubs and sees the signing as an important step in squad building. "Hanna was in demand across the market, and we are very pleased that she decided Tottenham Hotspur was the right club for the next stage of her career," Ho added.
Ho believes the agreement underlines the direction of the Tottenham project and what the staff expect from the squad. "Her choice speaks to the ambition of the project and the clarity of the pathway we are offering, and we are confident she will grow with us while helping raise the competitive standards of the group. "
Spurs continue to look at further additions alongside Wijk as the January window progresses. The club are reportedly interested in bringing Wijk’s Hacken team-mate Matilda Nilden to north London, while officials are also assessing the option of a loan move for Maika Hamano from Chelsea to deepen attacking choices.
With Wijk’s arrival pending final clearance, Tottenham enter the next phase of the Women’s Super League season with added depth and experience from Sweden's champions. The defender’s background at Hacken, the club's active recruitment plans and a steady league position collectively frame the next stage of Ho’s developing squad.
