Leeds United tightened control of their Premier League survival fight with a 3-1 home win over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road. Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for Leeds United, with Lorenzo Lucca replying on debut for Forest. The result moved Leeds nine points above the relegation places against direct rivals.
Daniel Farke labelled the display the ideal response in a high-pressure situation. The Leeds United manager praised the collective effort against opponents who carried serious attacking threats. Forest created moments but rarely dictated the game, as Leeds United controlled long spells and limited clear chances until late on when fatigue appeared.
Leeds have earned 76% of their Premier League points this season
at Elland Road, taking 22 of 29 at home. That is the highest proportion of home points for any club in the division this season. The latest victory added to that strong base and again highlighted the importance of Leeds United’s home crowd.
The club’s form in evening Premier League games at Elland Road has been especially strong. Leeds have won five of seven league matches kicking off at 7pm or later this season, drawing one and losing one. All five wins came in their five evening fixtures staged at Elland Road.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin reached double figures in the Premier League for the third season. Calvert-Lewin previously scored 13 league goals in 2019-20 and 16 in 2020-21. This campaign, eight of those goals have arrived since the beginning of December, the highest total by any player in the Premier League during that period.
Farke’s own record at Leeds United in the Premier League now compares favourably with the Norwich City spell. Farke has won seven of 25 league matches with Leeds, drawing eight and losing ten. At Norwich City, Farke recorded six wins, eight draws and 35 defeats from 49 Premier League fixtures.
Farke stressed how the group handled the occasion against dangerous counter-attackers. Farke told BBC Match of the Day: "[I'm] Proud of my boys. An important game for us. A sign of a great mentality, a great spirit. Also a winning mentality when you are asked to deliver and you deliver in this way. Emphatic fight from my boys, great performance. We showed the other side of us, the fighting edge and the steal. A perfect win. We didn’t allow them to develop the game, they have so much quality up front and in counter-attacks. We were very dominant. We started the second half strong and after a few injuries and got a bit tired they scored. We then showed so much maturity to bring it over the line. "

Farke underlined how Elland Road has become a difficult venue for visiting Premier League teams since promotion. Farke said: "As a promoted side it's always important to have your home stadium as a fortress and Elland Road is a fortress. We edge three points closer. We are happy tonight but tomorrow we go again. Perhaps we should apply to always have a kick-off here on a Friday evening. It's then also to the boys to deliver. It's important we use this atmosphere for emphatic performances. "
This latest Leeds United Premier League win strengthened the club’s position above the bottom three and added further confidence in home fixtures. With Elland Road continuing to provide strong backing and key players like Calvert-Lewin in form, Farke’s side carried useful momentum into the next stage of the season’s survival battle.
