Vidarbha opener Aman Mokhade has blazed into cricket's record books, matching the all-time fastest milestone of 1000 List A runs in just 16 innings-a feat previously achieved solely by South Africa's legendary
Graeme Pollock.
The 24-year-old Nagpur batter eclipsed the Indian record previously shared by Devdutt Padikkal and Abhinav Mukund (17 innings), reaching the mark with a match-winning 138 off 122 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final against Karnataka.
Explosive Form Fuels Record
Mokhade's semi-final heroics propelled Vidarbha to a commanding six-wicket victory at Bengaluru's Centre of Excellence, inching them toward a first-ever Vijay Hazare title. This season marks his breakout after a modest 2022-23 debut; he amassed 577 runs at 96.16 in the Ranji Trophy's opening phase with three centuries. Mokhade also topped Vidarbha's Syed Mushtaq Ali scoring charts, and now leads the Vijay Hazare with 781 runs in nine outings at 97.62, decorated by five centuries and a fifty, tying the single-edition record.
Kicking off with 110 against Bengal, Mokhade notched 82 and 139 against Hyderabad and Jammu & Kashmir, shrugged off a rare failure vs. Chandigarh, then unleashed tons vs. Baroda and Uttar Pradesh before his latest stunner against Karnataka, which has taken Vidarbha to the Vijay Hazare Trophy final.
The 24-year-old had limited opportunities last season due to a number of key and in-form names, but he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands this season.
