Piastri Insists On Equal Treatment With Norris At McLaren Following F1 Title Win

Oscar Piastri has expressed confidence that McLaren will maintain equal treatment for both drivers in the 2026 Formula One season. Lando Norris recently clinched his first F1 title in Abu Dhabi, narrowly

defeating Max Verstappen by two points. Despite Norris's success, Piastri remains optimistic about team dynamics. "I don't think that will change anything," Piastri stated after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Piastri finished third in the Drivers' Championship, following a second-place result at Yas Marina Circuit. He had led the title race before the mid-season break but fell behind due to a strategic error at the Qatar Grand Prix. This misstep cost him valuable points against his competitors. Nevertheless, Piastri believes McLaren will not alter its approach to favour Norris despite his championship win.

Piastri emphasised that Norris's victory does not transform him into someone unbeatable. "For me, he's obviously had a great season this year and a deserving champion, but he's still Lando Norris. It's not like he's become Superman," he remarked. Piastri anticipates continued fairness and equality from McLaren moving forward.

The Australian driver is confident that the team's treatment of both drivers will remain consistent. "I'm expecting full fairness from the team and equality going forward," he added. Piastri has no concerns about any changes in this regard, even with Norris's recent triumph.

Reflecting on the season, Piastri acknowledged Norris's strong performance and admitted that his teammate ultimately did a better job this year. However, he remains focused on maintaining competitiveness and ensuring fair treatment within McLaren as they prepare for the upcoming season.
