Mason Mount is optimistic about his progress at Manchester United, aiming to excel this season. He scored in United's 4-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League, capitalising on Bruno Fernandes' clever
pass. Despite setbacks since his £55 million move from Chelsea in 2023, Mount believes he's now performing at his best.
Mount has netted three times in 12 Premier League matches this season, showing a resurgence in form. "Anytime I play, I obviously want to play to the best of my ability and perform. I've had setbacks," Mount told Sky Sports. "I've had difficult times, I feel now I'm ready to keep pushing on and building on these performances. "
United have been impressive away from home, winning three and drawing two of their last five top-flight matches. Their last longer unbeaten away streak was in February 2022. The team is currently sixth in the Premier League, just one point behind Crystal Palace in fourth place.
Mount has made 60 appearances for United since joining two years ago, with injuries affecting his progress under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. Despite these challenges, he remains focused on improving his game and contributing more goals as a forward player.
Bruno Fernandes continues to be a key player for United. Since debuting on February 1, 2020, only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min have more goal involvements than him. Fernandes has contributed significantly against teams starting the day in the relegation zone.
"We all know the calibre of player he is," Mount said of Fernandes. "When he gets on the ball, he's always trying to create something. " Fernandes ended the Wolves game with impressive stats: most final third entries (12), chances created (five), touches (85), accurate passes (55), and passes into the final third (29).

Looking Ahead
The win against Wolves was crucial for United. "It was an important win for us," Mount stated. The team felt frustrated after letting Wolves back into the game before halftime but responded well after a motivating team talk from their manager.
Mount praised Fernandes' performance at Molineux Stadium, where he stood out once again. "He's a joy to play with as a player that's higher up the pitch because you know he's having a look," Mount added about Fernandes' ability to deliver precise passes.
The second half against Wolves showcased United's attacking intent and ability to finish chances effectively. The team is pleased with their overall performance and looks forward to maintaining their momentum in upcoming matches.
