Austin Reaves delivered 35 points in 25 minutes and the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Philadelphia 76ers 119-115, while the Charlotte Hornets extended a surge against the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs held off Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks in a busy NBA night.
The Lakers fought back from 14 points down, closed out after losing Luka Doncic to a left leg problem, and ended Philadelphia’s five-game streak. Charlotte then claimed an eighth straight win, before San Antonio spoiled another 30-point effort from Flagg with a high-scoring victory in Dallas.
Doncic, the NBA’s top scorer, left with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter, limping to the locker room after appearing to hurt the leg on the opposite end. The Lakers later listed
the problem as left leg soreness and Doncic did not appear for the second half.
Reaves, Doncic and LeBron James shared the court for only the 10th time this season because of several injury issues. James produced 17 points and 10 assists, steering the offence late as the Lakers rallied in their first outing after a demanding eight-game road stretch.
Joel Embiid matched Reaves with 35 points, while Tyrese Maxey contributed 26 points and 13 assists for Philadelphia. The 76ers surrendered a 14-point advantage, then almost erased a 16-point Lakers cushion in the second half, before suffering a first defeat since Jan. 26.

Rookie Kon Knueppel led Charlotte with 24 points, while LaMelo Ball added 20 in a 109-99 win over Houston. The Hornets’ current eight-game streak is the franchise’s best run since a nine-game sequence during the lockout-shortened 1998-99 campaign.
Charlotte built a 16-point cushion by the end of the third quarter. Brandon Miller opened the fourth with the first five points, stretching the margin to 96-75 with about 11 minutes left. A later 5-0 burst, including a Sion James three, pushed the lead to 103-81.
With eight minutes remaining after that run, Houston coach Ime Udoka removed the starters. The Rockets, who started Thursday in fourth place in the Western Conference, absorbed a second heavy defeat in as many nights after falling 114-93 to Boston, which played without Jaylen Brown.
Kevin Durant paced Houston with 31 points and Jabari Smith Jr. supplied 17. Alperen Sengun, averaging 21.2 points, finished with only seven, shooting 3-of-11. Miles Bridges scored 18 for Charlotte, and Miller ended on 11 after sitting the entire second quarter because of three early fouls.

NBA: Wembanyama and Spurs hold off Flagg and Mavericks
Victor Wembanyama totalled 29 points and 11 rebounds as San Antonio defeated Dallas 135-123, overcoming a fourth straight 30-point game from No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg. Flagg’s 32 points extended an NBA record for consecutive 30-point outings by a teenager.
The 19-year-old also joined Michael Jordan, Bernard King, Allen Iverson and Jalen Green as the only rookies with four consecutive 30-point performances since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976-77. Dallas also received 32 points from Naji Marshall, while Daniel Gafford had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Gafford remained with the Mavericks after the trade deadline passed a few hours earlier, despite previous speculation. For San Antonio, Harrison Barnes was among seven players in double figures with 19 points, and De'Aaron Fox supplied 17 while enduring a difficult shooting night.
Fox still struck two important fourth-quarter three-pointers, the second coming from Wembanyama’s sixth assist and establishing a 131-123 lead with 1:24 left. Stephon Castle posted 18 points and seven rebounds, finishing the scoring with a forceful follow dunk that sealed the Spurs’ road success.

The results leave the Lakers recovering momentum after a taxing trip, the 76ers regrouping from a rare recent defeat, the Hornets enjoying their best form in decades, the Rockets searching for defensive answers, while the Spurs and Mavericks watch Wembanyama and Flagg post significant early-career numbers.
