Barcelona have tabled a formal offer of €80 million (£69.3m) plus add-ons for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, as the Catalan giants intensify their pursuit of the England international.
Talks between the two clubs are advancing rapidly following sporting director Deco's recent trip to the UK. The 25-year-old Gordon, who signed a contract extension until 2030 last October, is understood to be keen on the move to Camp Nou, where he would fit seamlessly into Hansi Flick's high-pressing, high-intensity system.
Gordon has emerged as one of the Premier League's most dynamic attackers since joining Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 for around £40m. Versatile across the left flank or as a forward, the Liverpool-born star has impressed with
his pace, direct dribbling, work rate off the ball, and goal contributions. This season, he has featured regularly for the Magpies, adding to his growing reputation as a key England squad member.
Newcastle are holding firm on their valuation in the region of €80-90m for the player, viewing him as a prized asset. While Bayern Munich have also shown strong interest and reportedly agreed personal terms earlier, Gordon is believed to prefer a switch to La Liga champions Barcelona.
For Barcelona, signing Gordon would represent a significant statement of intent in the transfer market. The club sees the Englishman as an ideal wide option to complement stars like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, bringing Premier League-proven intensity and creativity to Flick's squad. Financially, the deal would stretch their resources, but sales and add-ons could help balance the books.
