Manchester City tightened control of the Women's Super League race with a 6-0 victory over Leicester City at Joie Stadium, moving 11 points clear at the top as Khadija Shaw, Yui Hasegawa, Vivianne Miedema, Kerolin and Aoba Fujino all scored in a one-sided contest that underlined City's attacking strength.
The scoreline reflected a dominant display, yet Leicester almost stunned the hosts early on when Alisha Lehmann struck the inside of the right post, while moments later Miedema clipped the frame of the goal at the opposite end before City settled and took full control of the Women's Super League match.
Shaw broke the deadlock on 22 minutes with a diving header after Lauren Hemp delivered a precise cross from the left, and City quickly built on that
lead when Kerstin Casparij won the ball high up the pitch, allowing Miedema to fire in from the edge of the area as Leicester struggled to clear their lines.
Miedema then added City's third before half-time, guiding a clinical header beyond Olivia Clark from another Hemp delivery, while Hasegawa made it 4-0 before the interval by arriving unmarked to finish from Kerolin's low cutback, capping a first half where City constantly stretched Leicester across the Women's Super League pitch.
Any hope of a Leicester response vanished just three minutes into the second half when Kerolin collected possession outside the box and sent a powerful strike past Clark, and the Foxes then suffered again shortly after the hour, attempting to play out from the back as Hasegawa pressed, won the ball and released Fujino, who rounded the goalkeeper for City's sixth.
City almost had a seventh when Shaw seemed certain to score again, only for Julie Thibaud to retreat and block on the goal line, yet Leicester rarely threatened at the other end, registering only seven attempts as Andree Jeglertz's side controlled territory and tempo throughout the Women's Super League clash.

Women's Super League data debrief and individual displays
City's numbers highlighted the scale of control in this Women's Super League outing, with Jeglertz's team generating 4.58 expected goals from 31 shots, while Leicester produced 1.43 expected goals from seven efforts, often limited to less dangerous situations as City dominated possession and territory across both halves.
Miedema, who left the pitch after 58 minutes, still delivered a standout attacking performance with a match-high 11 shots and 18 touches inside the penalty area, completing four of six dribbles and winning nine of 13 duels, while Hemp created 11 chances overall, including six before half-time, a figure only bettered in an opening 45 minutes of a Women's Super League game by Fran Kirby in September 2021 for Chelsea versus Everton.
The result strengthened Manchester City's position at the Women's Super League summit and highlighted the impact of Miedema and Hemp in the final third, as well as the pressing work of Hasegawa and Kerolin, while Leicester were left to reflect on an early missed chance from Lehmann and a tough evening against a side in complete control.
