Chennai Super Kings have suffered yet another major injury setback in IPL 2026. The franchise confirmed that pace-bowling all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a fracture in his right foot.
The 28-year-old Maharashtra cricketer made his much-awaited IPL debut against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. In a promising start, Ghosh grabbed headlines with a stunning diving catch to dismiss Will Jacks and claimed the prized wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, finishing with figures of 1/24.
His energetic performance contributed to CSK's convincing victory, but the joy was short-lived. While bowling his third over, Ghosh hobbled off the field in visible discomfort. Medical scans later revealed
a right foot fracture, requiring a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks.
The franchise's official statement read, "Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026. Get well soon, Rambo. The franchise is yet to announce a replacement.
Ghosh, picked for ₹30 lakh in the 2025 IPL auction and retained for 2026, had impressed in domestic cricket. He shone in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a remarkable 7/42 spell and explosive batting. Having played under Ruturaj Gaikwad at the domestic level, he brought depth as a bowling all-rounder to CSK's squad.
This latest blow adds to CSK's mounting injury concerns, testing their squad depth as they navigate the mid-season points race. Fans and experts hope for Ghosh's swift recovery and future contributions to the yellow brigade. The five-time champions have already lost Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis with injury, while MS Dhoni is yet to play a match due to a hamstring issue.
