Asian U-15 Boxing Championships: India's U-15 boys team produced a strong show in Tashkent. Six boxers entered the finals of the Asian Boxing U15 Championships 2026. Seven others signed off with bronze medals. The semifinals took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 10 May 2026.
Yash Kumar opened with a clear 5:0 win at 33kg. He beat Kiyan Iqbal of the UAE to reach the final. At 37kg, Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar won by referee stoppage in round two. He defeated Aziretali Sanzharbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
In the 43kg class, Samir Bohra beat local boxer Adizbek Ilkhombekov. The Indian won 4:1 against the Uzbek fighter. At 52kg, Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak claimed a first-round RSC win. He stopped Amirmahdi Shad of Iran in the opening round.
At 58kg, Mohd Yasser
outboxed Iran's Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa. He earned a clear 5:0 verdict from the judges. In the 67kg division, Ronak Parag Lokhande also won by first-round RSC. He defeated Kyrgyzstan's Mukhammadali Berdikulov to complete India's finalist group.
India's Semifinal Medal Haul
Several Indians lost in the semifinals but secured bronze medals. At 35kg, Rohit Pothina went down 0:5 to Kazakhstan's Zhaksylyk Yermekuly. Nitin, in the 40kg category, lost a tight 2:3 decision. His opponent was Uzbekistan boxer Jasurbek Khayrullaev.
In the 46kg bout, Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina lost 2:3. He faced Uzbekistan's Mansur Abdukhamitov in a close contest. At 49kg, Parshant suffered a 0:5 defeat. He was beaten by another Uzbekistan boxer, Sardor Omonboev, in his semifinal.
At 55kg, Harshvardhan Jeena was outpointed 0:5. His opponent was Kazakhstan's Nurislam Baktubayev in a one-sided clash. Dev, boxing at 64kg, lost 1:4 to Korea's Hyeonseok Yoo. Both boxers ended their campaigns with bronze medals.
In the 70+kg group, Sushant Jayani could not progress further. He lost by referee stoppage in the first round. His opponent was Uzbekistan's Ibrokhim Mirzakarimov. That result completed India's tally of seven bronzes from the semifinals.
India finished the semifinal stage with six confirmed finalists. The squad also secured seven bronze medals across several weight groups. The U-15 boys team will now prepare for the finals. They will try to turn these strong showings into gold medals.
