Amine Adli struck a 95th-minute winner as Bournemouth edged Liverpool in dramatic fashion, sealing a crucial Premier League victory. The forward finished from close range after a long throw was not cleared,
deciding a match where Bournemouth had twice seen leads wiped out by Liverpool’s senior figures.
The result continued a strong run, with Bournemouth now recording two wins and one draw from the last three league fixtures. That matches the number of victories from the previous 16 Premier League games, underlining a timely improvement in form against high-level opposition.
Bournemouth initially moved ahead through Evanilson, before Alex Jimenez added another goal, putting the hosts in a strong position. Liverpool responded through Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai, levelling the contest, but the decisive moment arrived when Liverpool failed to clear a long throw and Adli reacted quickest.
Adli reflected on the decisive strike with clear emotion, stressing how much the moment meant to everyone connected with the club. "We play football for moments like this. The people are coming for this and to see all the happiness in everybody, the members of staff, all the people who are working for the club and the fans, it's for moments like this we play football. "
Adli described the late goal as a new experience and linked it with the squad’s mentality. "It's a crazy moment. Obviously, it's the first time it's happened to me. The emotions are amazing, but overall it shows the character of the team. I think we played a very good game against a very tough opponent and this goal is showing all the work rate of the whole team and hopefully I score this one, for sure I'm even happier. I'm just happy for the team. "
Bournemouth have developed a habit of deciding games in stoppage time. Another recent league victory also arrived in the 95th minute, when Antoine Semenyo scored against Tottenham. That capacity to keep pushing late in matches has become a key feature of their current Premier League campaign.
Bournemouth vs Liverpool context in Premier League table
Results elsewhere on the same Saturday shaped the mood around this win. West Ham defeated Sunderland earlier in the day, while Leeds United and Nottingham Forest also collected points in recent outings. Those outcomes increased pressure on Bournemouth, as clubs lower in the standings continued to narrow gaps.
Defender Marcos Senesi underlined how those other scores influenced the importance of beating Liverpool. "To be honest, unbelievable. A late winner is perfect for us, Senesi told Sky Sports. Unbelievable because we need a win. Everyone below us is getting points, so it is massive for us to win today against a really good side like Liverpool. The team is staying together, doing the work even if we have a few injuries and important players [out] for us. Everyone is stepping up and we got an important result. "
Bournemouth’s attacking record in the league has been notable this season. The team have scored at least two goals in 13 Premier League matches, which is the joint-highest figure in the competition, level with Manchester City. That output reflects a consistent willingness to play on the front foot.
Adli summarised the feeling simply after the match. "We play football for moments like this. " The forward’s late contribution, combined with Bournemouth’s growing resilience and key results against Liverpool and Tottenham, strengthens their position in a tight table where several sides, including Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, continue to collect points.
