New Delhi, Dec 15: Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and ISSF World Cup Final Cairo 2025 gold medallist Simranpreet Kaur Brar, on Monday (December 15), delivered top class performances to clinch gold medals
in the senior and junior women's 25m sports pistol events respectively at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range here.
Manu produced a composed and authoritative display in the senior final, shooting 36 to secure the gold medal. She finished four hits clear of Karnataka's Divya T S, who claimed silver with a score of 32, while Anjali Choudhary settled for bronze after hitting 28 targets.
Rhythm Sangwan finished fourth with 22, followed by Arshdeep Kaur on 18, Annu Raj Singh on 14 and Anuja Verma on 11, while Parisha Gupta did not start in the final.
Earlier in qualification, Divya T S topped the field with a score of 587 22x, ahead of Anjali Choudhary who shot 582 19x. Annu Raj Singh finished third with 582 16x, while Manu qualified fourth with 581 19x. Parisha Gupta was fifth with 581 14x, followed by Rhythm Sangwan on 579 17x, with Arshdeep Kaur and Anuja Verma completing the top eight.
In the junior women's 25m sports pistol final, Simranpreet Kaur Brar continued her impressive form, shooting 39 to comfortably clinch the gold medal. Dwaram Pranavi secured silver, while Palak of Haryana claimed bronze with 20. Tanu Shree Tomar finished fourth after bowing out in a shoot off, followed by Sejal Raju Kamble, Megana Sadula and Lavanya Kanwar. Parisha Gupta did not start in the final.
Parisha Gupta had earlier topped the junior qualification round, with Simranpreet qualifying second with 578 13x. Palak finished third with 575 14x, followed by Sejal Raju Kamble, Tanu Shree Tomar, Lavanya Kanwar, Megana Sadula and Dwaram Pranavi.
In the women's team 25m sports pistol event, Maharashtra clinched the gold medal with a combined score of 1726 40x through Shital Preetam Desai, Abhidnya Ashok Patil and Rahi Sarnobat. The Army Marksmanship Unit finished second with 1722 44x, while Haryana secured bronze with 1718 43x.
The junior women's team gold was won by the Army Marksmanship Unit, with Delhi taking silver and Punjab finishing third.
Championship action continues on Tuesday with the men's skeet finals scheduled in New Delhi, while the women's 50m rifle three positions finals will be held at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bhopal.
